All going swimmingly - Hewett's supports local swimming talent
Kidderminster swimming talent and Olympic hopeful Amy Smith is being assisted in her training thanks to the sponsorship support of Hewett Recruitment, the Kidderminster employers of Amy’s mother June Smith.
Amy, aged 22, who last month swam life time best times in the heats, semis and final of the 50M Butterfly and 100M Freestyle at the British Championships in Sheffield, won the 50m Fly to become British Champion, and came 2nd in the 100M Freestyle, only 15hundredths of a second behind the World Silver Medalist Fran Halsall, now has her sights set on the Olympics 2012.
Hewett Recruitment is sponsoring Amy in order to assist her with her heavy training schedule which sees her in the pool from 5:30am, 3 weekday mornings, training in the water up to 9 times a week.
“Amy’s mum June has worked here at Hewett Recruitment for 15 years,” explains Louise Hewett, Hewett’s Managing Director. “She is one of our longest serving members of staff, having been with the company half of our 30 year history. In this, our 30th anniversary year, we are celebrating Hewett Recruitment’s success, and our team is a key part of that. We know Amy so well having watched her progress in the sport since childhood and are very proud to applaud and support her success. She is a shining example of local talent.”
Amy Smith, who completed her Sports and Exercise Science degree from Loughborough University last year, is currently looking ahead to the European Championships in August and the Commonwealth Games in October: “The sponsorship support of Hewett Recruitment is a great boost to me in the run up to these key events. I am excited about achieving my new personal bests, and hope that I can carry on this pattern into the summer and autumn championships, to put Kidderminster firmly on the swimming map!”
