Louises Column - Queens Award honoured to Worcestershire Companies.

In 2017 Worcestershire won a total of five Queen’s Awards. As a county we are beginning to build something of an enviable reputation for being honoured by these prestigious awards which illustrates the breadth of outstanding achievements and innovation present within the county.

Winners were Fish4Dogs and Metrasens for International trade. Titania and The Smart Actuator Company won the Queens Award for Innovation. Oakland International received dual awards for International Trade and Sustainable Development.

As a member of the Queen’s Award Committee for Worcestershire, I and my colleagues work together under the guidance of the Lord Lieutenant Patrick Holcroft and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Andrew Grant to encourage local businesses to enter this most prestigious of business awards.

Last week I was delighted to be present at the awards ceremony for Metrasens based in Malvern, winners of the Queen’s Awards for International Trade. The ceremony was very appropriately held on the shop floor with employees and management present and visibly and deservedly bursting with pride.

Past winners have reported a huge boost in staff morale, as well as worldwide recognition, increased commercial value and excellent press coverage.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said recently “The Queen’s Award for Enterprise highlights everything great about UK business today. We have some of the best entrepreneurs and innovative minds in the world who are at the heart of small start-ups, providing excellent customer service to larger businesses developing global solutions.”
