Health and Safety Advisor

Assisting and supporting the Line Managers with the day to day responsibility of Health and Safety, the Health and Safety Advisor will report into the Group People Director and work across the whole Group, supporting on delivery and strategy.

Some key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing advice and guidance on all aspects of health and safety and welfare to Directors, Senior Managers, Line Manager
  • Monitoring and researching new health and safety legislation and initiatives giving guidance on the implications and compliance
  • Regularly reviewing and updating the corporate health and safety policies
  • Developing and implementing a health and safety action plan
  • Monitoring the safety of operations and premises by conducting regular checks and audits of buildings and work practice, preparing reporting and making and recommendations for improvements as necessary
  • Assisting in the investigation of cases of alleged personal injury/health & safety breaches and providing relevant reports.
  • Advising on health and safety training programme
  • Establishing, maintaining and monitoring a corporate health and safety risk assessment register
  • Promoting and maintaining a culture which places safety of every team member first and aims to deliver a high standard of professionalism within the People function
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, occupational diseases etc.
  • Producing relevant management and Board reports as and when required.

Skills and Experience required:

  • NEBOSH Qualification or equivalent (Diploma preferred)
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing / engineering environment
  • Practical experience of implementing robust, effective safe working arrangements and procedures
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of handling accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences etc.
  • Ability to identify and deliver relevant communications and training initiatives to team members across a diverse
  • Detailed knowledge of up to date legislation

The role will be based between Worcester/ Bromsgrove/ home and other sites as necessary.

Salary £35k - £38k depending on experience plus excellent benefits
