Part Time Finance Officer (18 hours a week)

About the Role:

Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for local governance and financial management? We're looking for a proactive and dedicated Deputy Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to support the smooth operations within this organisation. This pivotal role involves not only assisting with administrative duties but also ensuring financial health, compliance, and governance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership:
    As the RFO, you'll manage the finances, ensuring all practices are within legal frameworks and best practices. You'll provide strategic financial advice, oversee budgetary controls, and prepare essential reports including year-end accounts and the Annual Return.

  • Operational Support:
    You'll manage correspondence, prepare agendas and minutes for meetings,

  • Governance and Compliance:
    Ensure they meet statutory obligations and maintain high standards of governance. This includes managing the asset register, insurance, and internal financial controls.

  • Community Engagement:
    Act as a key point of contact for contractors and stakeholders, ensuring the implementation of Council-approved works. You'll also prepare and issue press releases, contributing to the Council's public relations efforts.



About You:

  • Experienced in Financial Management/ Accountant:
    You have a strong background in financial administration, ideally within a local government or public sector setting. Familiarity with financial regulations and statutory requirements is essential.

  • Organized and Proactive:
    You excel in managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring accuracy in your work.

  • Excellent Communicator:
    You're skilled in both written and verbal communication, able to liaise effectively with contractors, and the community.

  • Adaptable and Committed:
    You're flexible in your working hours and approach, committed to ongoing professional development, and ready to attend necessary training and seminars.
