Practice Accountant

Bidford-on-Avon | Hybrid Working | 25-35 Hours per Week | Permanent

Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Chartered Accountancy Practice is seeking a technically capable accountant to join their expanding team. The Role

Working closely with the existing accounts team, you will manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing a range of accounting, taxation and compliance services. This is a hands-on role offering excellent variety and the opportunity to build strong client relationships while supporting businesses across a range of sectors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of statutory accounts to review stage
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD)
  • Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Resolving client queries and providing ongoing support
  • Identifying and researching technical accounting and tax issues
  • Assisting with ad hoc client projects and assignments
  • Supporting and collaborating with colleagues across the practice

About You

The successful candidate will have experience working within an accountancy practice environment and be confident managing a varied workload with minimal supervision.

You will ideally have:

  • AAT Level 4 qualified or ACA/ACCA qualified/part-qualified
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of Xero software
  • Experience preparing accounts and tax returns to review stage
  • Sound understanding of VAT and compliance requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience with payroll and PAYE would be advantageous but is not essential.
