Gregory the Giraffe
…So who is Gregory? Gregory is Hewett Recruitment’s official Giraffe Sculpture for the Worcester Stands Tall art project in support of St Richards Hospice. Over the next 10 Weeks Gregory will be basking in the sunshine on The Cross of Worcester High Street for all to see. Gregory is very special to us at Hewett Recruitment and represents all the things that inspire us every day to Stand Tall, Be Kind, Be Strong and value the journey of life and not just live for the end result. Gregory is unique in colour and size. This shows us how being different is something to embrace and to be proud of. He is our hero!
Unfortunately the reports are true - Gregory our Official Worcester Stands Tall sculpture has been badly damaged, and as a result temporarily removed from the WST Art Trail so he can be fully repaired.
We appreciate all the public support in regards to this upsetting news. It’s comforting to know just how much the giraffe sculptures are admired by the people of Worcester who are clearly just as upset as we are.
We look forward to welcoming Gregory back soon and we can’t wait to see him basking in the sunshine again - where he can continue to be enjoyed all in aid of the brilliant St Richards Hospice Build 2020 campaign.
For more information and updates regarding the trail, please visit the official Worcester Stands Tall website.

Why Managing Director Louise Hewett signed up to the project?
When Louise Hewett first heard about the Worcestershire Stands Tall fundraising project, it all seemed to make perfect sense. Louise was the first to step forward and sponsor a giraffe not only because she’s a supporter and Patron of St Richard’s Hospice but she also wanted to do this as a tribute to her late parents – Doris and Gregory Meacheam. Louise explained “Mum and Dad lived in Africa for many years and the giraffe reminded me of my Mother’s words when I was a child and felt rather self-conscious of being taller than my peers… she would play me a very old song by Val Doonican called ‘Walk Tall’. My parents instilled the values that guide me, my business and my family … Stand tall, be kind, be strong and give back to the community around you.
L-R Louise with St Richards Hospice and Louise's parents Doris & Gregory Meacheam who inspired her to sign up to the project.
