Can you describe your troubleshooting and escalation process?

This question assesses the candidate's problem-solving skills and their understanding of when and how to escalate issues. Look for candidates who can explain a structured approach to troubleshooting and have a clear understanding of escalation protocols.

How familiar are you with Windows/Linux/OS operating systems?

This question evaluates the candidate's proficiency with operating systems commonly used in IT support. Look for candidates who have hands-on experience and can demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting common issues on both Windows, Linux and OS platforms.

How many users do you support on a daily basis?

This question helps determine the candidate's experience in supporting a large user base. Look for candidates who have experience supporting a significant number of users and can handle the associated challenges, such as managing multiple simultaneous requests.

How familiar are you with Active Directory?

This question assesses the candidate's knowledge of Active Directory, a common directory service used in Windows environments. Look for candidates who can demonstrate proficiency in managing user accounts, groups, and permissions within an Active Directory environment.

Can you describe a time you've had to deal with a difficult client/customer?

This question evaluates the candidate's interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations. Look for candidates who can provide an example of successfully managing a difficult client or customer, demonstrating their communication and problem-solving abilities.

How familiar are you with ITIL as a framework?

This question determines the candidate's familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), a widely adopted framework for IT service management. Look for candidates who can explain the key principles and processes of ITIL and have experience implementing ITIL practices in their work.

What experience do you have in using virtualization?

This question assesses the candidate's knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V. Look for candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with virtualization, including tasks like provisioning virtual machines, managing virtual networks, and troubleshooting virtualization issues.

How many virtual machines do you manage?

This question helps determine the candidate's level of responsibility in managing virtual machines. Look for candidates who have experience managing a significant number of virtual machines and can demonstrate proficiency in tasks like resource allocation, virtual machine migration, and performance optimization.

What experience do you have in using Office 365, Azure, and related products?

This question evaluates the candidate's familiarity with cloud-based productivity suites and platforms. Look for candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with Office 365 applications and Azure services, including tasks like user management, data migration, and application deployment in the cloud.

Briefly describe your working knowledge of advanced configuration of switches, firewalls, and VLANs.

This question aims to assess the candidate's expertise in networking and security. Look for candidates who can explain their experience in configuring and troubleshooting switches, firewalls, and VLANs, including knowledge of VLAN tagging, access control lists, and routing protocols.

Could you briefly describe your knowledge and experience of cloud computing?

This question evaluates the candidate's understanding of cloud computing concepts, services, and deployment models. How much experience with SQL do you have?

  • Make sure you Showcase Your Problem-Solving Skills:
