What is a Design Engineer? A Design Engineer is a person who agrees specifications of products with clients and follows with creation of the design for the product required. There is a variety of Design Engineer requirements and responsibilities depending on the field of work.
What does Design Engineer do? Essentially, Design Engineers originate the idea to satisfy client specifications, draw the schematics using company’s software packages, provide Bills of Materials, work with other colleagues in the company to ensure the design works once prototype is produced, can be involved in final testing and also in production of technical documentation and manuals. There are usually many other associated duties, varied by the company.

What do Design Engineer construct? This varies depending on the product company supplies. This can be a purely mechanical design (eg. parts or components), electrical design (eg. wiring schematics) , electronic design (eg. PCB boards) and others. Designers are often able to cross between the disciplines to support their companies and have a wide understanding across the board.
