Job description

My client are an established company who provide technical support for a large number of schools and businesses in Worcestershire and the surrounding counties.

They are looking for someone to join their growing team as an IT Support Technician / Field Engineer. As part of their Technical Services Team, you will be providing scheduled and ad-hoc 3rd line diagnostic support to the IT Team Leader, IT Systems Engineer, IT Technicians and Pre-Sales Support.

As a successful IT Support Technician / Field Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing telephone and on-site support to all school staff in the use of Microsoft Office and other software and to support the variety of desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Apple related systems, etc.
  • Assisting the Technical Support team by performing regular onsite IT support visits at customer sites.
  • Provide scheduled and ad-hoc 3rd line diagnostic support to the IT Team Leader, IT Systems Engineer, IT Technicians and Pre-Sales Support.
  • Installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults and solving technical problems using sophisticated remote support software.

As a successful Senior IT Support Technician / Field Engineer you will:

  • Have "A" Level or higher within a technical/IT discipline.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 5 years of work experience in delivering software and systems support.
  • Good knowledge of Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019) and associated infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, NPS and Group Policies
  • Experience and understanding of cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure, AWS and Office 365.
  • Excellent understanding of Internet connectivity and Broadband networking.
  • Must be able to work on your own initiative but also as part of a team.
  • Must have a full clean driving licence and vehicle due to the requirement to travel to customers' sites.
  • DBS certification will be required if successful.

This IT Support Technician / Field Engineer role is paying a salary depending on experience of between £22,000 and £28,000.

My client's main office is based in Bromsgrove, but travel is required daily to sites across Worcestershire - these are located in Worcester, Droitwich, Kidderminster, Pershore, Malvern, Evesham, South Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon.
