Operational Buyer

Working as part of a busy Purchasing team and reporting into, the Operational Purchasing Team Leader, the Operational Buyer will be responsible for managing the process of communication and management of purchase orders to the supplier through to final delivery, including resolving any invoice and price discrepancies. An exceptional relationship builder on a global level, who can offer unrivalled customer service to all key accounts, experience using SAP would be advantageous.

Some key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Professional relationship management of a portfolio of suppliers
  • Managing supplier performance through the use of KPI's and fact-based root cause analysis. Communicating on a daily basis with planning and production departments
  • Attending production meetings, feeding back supplier delivery
  • Supporting manufacturing and engineering
  • Ensuring supplier delivery and any general queries are resolved a time efficient manner
  • Daily reviewing of purchase order deliveries
  • Implementing improvement plans when KPIs are not met

As well as liaising with external customers, there will be many internal stakeholder relationships.

Skills and experience required:

  • CIPS Qualification preferred or alternatively qualified by experience
  • Purchasing experience within a busy manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using SAP preferred
  • Experience of using an MRP system is essential
  • Outstanding customer service skills at all levels
  • A strong knowledge of supplier management
