Electrical Maintenance Engineer


Location: Aldridge, Walsall
Salary: Up to £50,000 (Additional Bonus)
Hours: 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, averaging 38.125 hours per week; "earlies" 6:30am-6:30pm, "lates" 11:00am-11:00pm; weekend shifts finish no later than 7:00pm

The Role

We are seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Maintenance Electrician) to join the hands-on in-house maintenance team at their Sandown site. You will be responsible for keeping plant machinery running smoothly through troubleshooting, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), and hands-on electrical repairs.

This is a varied and dynamic role, combining skills in electrical and electro-mechanical systems, PLC programming, and service engineering. Your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities will be used daily to maximise production efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain all electrical and electro-mechanical plant machinery

  • Operate preventative electrical maintenance systems

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently

  • Program Siemens and other PLCs

  • Use testing equipment to locate and resolve electrical faults

  • Attend breakdowns and restore equipment promptly

  • Promote Lean thinking and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to safe systems of work (SSOW) documentation

  • Adhere to quality standards in line with BSEN ISO 9001

Full training and PPE will be provided to ensure safe and effective working practices.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Electrically biased engineer with experience in manufacturing/production

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Diagnostics experience with electrical motors, pneumatics, and PLCs

  • Team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and EHS processes

  • Physically fit and able to perform hands-on duties

Desirable:

  • 17th / 18th edition qualified (training can be provided)

  • Completed hands-on apprentice training programme

  • HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Experience in heavy industry manufacturing
