Mechanical Maintenance Engineer


Location: Goxhill, North Lincolnshire
Salary: Up to £44,640 (inclusive of allowances/bonuses)
Hours: 6:00am - 6:00pm, 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Maintenance Fitter) to join the hands-on in-house team at their Goxhill site. You will be responsible for keeping plant machinery running smoothly through troubleshooting, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), and hands-on repairs.

This is a varied and dynamic role, combining fitting, fabrication, welding, and service engineering skills. Your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities will be used daily to maximise production efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across plant machinery

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on specialist equipment

  • Perform bearing fitting, alignment, and minor fabrication/welding tasks

  • Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

  • Work flexibly across different daily priorities to keep production running efficiently

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent)

  • Mechanical bias with experience in manufacturing/factory environments

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and EHS processes

  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive chain diagnostics

  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work

  • Strong team working, communication, and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • Completed a hands-on apprentice training programme

  • HNC or HND in Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Experience in heavy industry manufacturing

  • Knowledge of cutting & grinding regulations

  • Arc & Mig welding / basic fabrication skills

  • Electrical control systems experience
