Sales Ledger Clerk

Location: Ledbury, Herefordshire
Working Arrangement: Fully onsite (no hybrid working)
Reporting to: Financial Accountant

Hourly Rate: £15.11 per hour

Are you an organised and detail-focused finance professional looking for your next opportunity? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established business in Ledbury for a Sales Ledger Clerk to join their friendly and supportive finance team. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of the sales ledger function and contribute to the smooth running of monthly accounts processes.

The Role

As a Sales Ledger Clerk, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks across invoicing, payment processing, and customer account management. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and issuing invoices via ERP systems, EDI platforms, and customer portals

  • Investigating and resolving customer queries, including raising credit notes

  • Maintaining communication with customers to ensure prompt query resolution

  • Processing non-stock invoices (e.g. pallet storage services)

  • Daily updates of pricing and promotional information in the system

  • Handling returns and delivery note processing

  • Emailing invoices to customers in a timely manner

  • Posting payments to customer accounts

  • Managing banking, petty cash, gratuities, and driver remittances

  • Recording charges to company credit cards

  • Providing cover for colleagues during holidays or absences

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a Sales Ledger, Finance, or Cashier role

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

  • Comfortable building rapport with colleagues and customers

  • Confident IT user with experience in finance systems

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage priorities effectively

Desirable:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
