Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4pm, Friday 7:30am to 1pm
£40,000 - £45,000
We are recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering and manufacturing business seeking a Production Engineer to support and optimise their manufacturing operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to the production environment, solving manufacturing challenges and improving processes. The role combines practical engineering expertise with responsibility for workshop operations, production planning and continuous improvement across mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and product testing activities.
The Role
As Production Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards. You will provide hands-on production engineering support across mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and product testing, while helping to drive improvements to manufacturing processes and production flow.
You will also oversee the day-to-day activity of a small workshop team, ensuring production schedules are met and the workshop operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on production engineering support across assembly, wiring and product testing activities
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, procedures and work instructions
- Identify opportunities to increase productivity, reduce waste and optimise production flow
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues
- Work closely with Engineering to resolve build issues and implement design improvements
- Plan and schedule production builds to meet delivery deadlines
- Maintain production schedules within the Epicor ERP system
- Allocate work across workshop technicians and assemblers
- Maintain strong shop floor visibility to identify and resolve issues quickly
- Ensure tooling, equipment and consumables are available and fit for purpose
- Support product testing, quality processes and change control
- Maintain a safe, organised and compliant workshop environment
About You
We are looking for a practical engineer who enjoys working close to the production environment and collaborating across teams.
You will likely have experience within manufacturing, production engineering or industrial assembly environments.
Key requirements:
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Production Engineering or similar
- Experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly and electrical wiring systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing processes and production optimisation
- Ability to troubleshoot technical build issues
- Experience supervising or supporting a small production team
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience with ERP / MRP systems (Epicor advantageous)
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
- Experience supporting product testing or validation processes
