Location: Ledbury, Herefordshire

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Design Technician to take a key role within the Industrial Projects team. This position will involve managing and delivering complex, bespoke design solutions by adapting standard products to meet specific customer requirements.

You will be responsible for overseeing the design process from initial customer engagement through to installation completion, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and to a high standard.

This role is ideal for a proactive design professional who enjoys variety, customer interaction and working on technically challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle

  • Attend pre-order meetings and liaise with clients to gather structural and design requirements

  • Carry out on-site structural surveys to ensure accurate product fit (international travel required on occasion)

  • Interpret customer structural and engineering drawings

  • Produce detailed project designs, adapting existing products and methodologies

  • Generate bespoke production drawings for internal manufacture and external suppliers

  • Load and manage project data within internal management systems

  • Liaise with third-party suppliers to manufacture bespoke components

  • Create efficient packing sequences to support smooth installation

  • Prepare comprehensive job packs for installation teams, including RAMS, installation instructions and certification

  • Participate in post-installation debriefs and evaluate project costing and performance

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a technical or engineering environment

  • Proficiency in 2D CAD (essential), ideally using AutoCAD

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • 3D CAD experience (e.g. Inventor or similar)

  • Client-facing experience

  • Experience working on bespoke or project-based engineering solutions
