The Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established precision engineering business to recruit an Operations Support Coordinator on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent.

This is a hands-on, operational role, requiring a strong presence on both the shop floor and office. You will be at the heart of the business, ensuring that materials, production schedules, suppliers, and shop floor activity are fully aligned. The role combines purchasing, production support, finance coordination, and day-to-day operations control, helping keep orders moving efficiently and without disruption.

This position is ideal for someone methodical, detail-oriented, and confident in both data management and face-to-face communication across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing of materials, components, consumables, and subcontract services

  • Plan and monitor production schedules to align with operational capacity and customer demand

  • Issue and manage shop orders, ensuring materials are available and delivery dates can be met

  • Run WIP checks and quickly resolve shortages, delays, or other production blockers

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure full material traceability

  • Set up new suppliers in the ERP system (IFS) and maintain associated records

  • Support month-end tasks including invoicing, stock/WIP reporting, and data cleansing

  • Maintain manufacturing structures, routings, and BOMs, working with Finance to verify accuracy

  • Liaise with suppliers, finance teams, and shop floor staff to ensure smooth operations

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and track progress

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing, planning, and material control processes

About You

  • Previous experience in purchasing, production support, or manufacturing operations

  • Strong communication skills, confident in liaising with multiple teams

  • Methodical and detail-oriented, with excellent organisational skills

  • Confident in using MS Office (intermediate level) and ERP systems (preferably IFS)

  • Comfortable working in a hands-on role on the shop floor and within the office

  • Proactive problem-solver, able to identify blockers and take ownership of solutions

  • Interest in process improvement and continuous operational efficiency
