We are recruiting a technical author who's passionate about the profession. With a self-motivated and methodical approach you will help create concise and engaging customer-facing content. Working within the R&D group you'll enjoy a unique opportunity to write about a diverse range of scientific products and solutions.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Writing and improving content on how to install, use and verify of our products

  • Creating digital and hardcopy outputs: documents, help, e-learning and user guides

  • Producing video, graphical and photographic supporting material

  • Working to the company writing style, for a global audience

  • Using existing authoring systems and exploring new tools

  • Maintaining content on our information sharing platforms

  • Regular collaboration with other teams, such as Customer Service

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Team spirit, meticulous attention to detail and an innate curiosity that drives improvement

  • 3+ years' experience as a software and/or hardware technical author

  • A relevant degree, ideally with a writing, analytical, or STEM focus

  • Proven technical ability with tools like Madcap Flare (+Git), MS Office, Adobe CC, Jira

  • Demonstrable knowledge of topic-based writing, single-sourcing and content reuse

  • Understanding of low-level coding such as HTML/XML/CSS

Great to have?

  • A passion for technical writing and an interest in continued learning

  • Experience of working within an Agile software development environment

  • Understanding of laboratory-based scientific instrumentation or software testing

  • Knowledge of e-learning tools such as Articulate 360

  • The ability to spot a typo at a thousand paces
