Job description
Analyst - Modelling
An opportunity has arisen to join a truly innovative organisation who are at the heart of what Energy looks like in the UK in the future. In order to provide evidence for the transformational changes they are pioneering, they require a new team member to help develop tools and models to test ideas
The core responsibility is to work with stakeholders to frame questions such that they can be investigated through simulation, configure the simulation to produce relevant results, and distil the resulting data into insights useful to the customer. Whilst your background may be academia and theory, this role is looking at how new concepts can be applied in a real-world, practical manner, and as such a commercial / business acumen is also central to the role.
The successful applicant will hold a degree level qualification in a Maths based subject (engineering, mathematics, software, physical science) with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and previous experience in a similar role. You should have commercial experience with computational methods and mathematical analysis and ideally will have some knowledge or experience of the energy sector. Any specific research experience (e.g. PhD) would be very useful as would any knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Python or Git.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a trailblazing organisation giving you the chance to work on exciting, and important projects. The role is based in Birmingham and commutable from Kidderminster, Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Solihull, Coventry, Tamworth, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stourbridge, West Bromwich and Walsall. Salary £25-32,500, commensurate with experience.
