Business Operations Manager

Our client needs a professional, commercially astute Business Manager / Executive Assistant who can support the two Directors with the day -to- day operations of a small, highly successful Engineering company. With previous experience in office processes and procedures, the successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of how a business works and be able take on some of the day to day responsibilities currently absorbed by the CEO. An ability to 'second guess' is key!

Some key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement processes and procedures to achieve company objectives and drive growth.

Management of incoming workstreams and CEO inbox, planning and scheduling resources for projects. Provide support to ongoing projects.

Anticipate CEO's needs in advance of meetings, briefing packs, conferences, etc.

  • Operational Management:

Oversee day-to-day business operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across all live projects.

Develop process to manage workstreams from proposal through to delivery and completion.

Remotely manage and monitor site staff and contractors output to ensure authorised work is delivered on time and within budget

  • Process Improvement:

Evaluate current business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.

Develop and implement process improvements and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations and increase efficiency.

  • Financial Management:

Manage expenses and time recording and review processes within the business (currently managed via QuickBooks).

Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and revenue-generating opportunities to drive financial success.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, clients, and partners.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align business operations with company goals and objectives.

This will be a busy, varied and interesting role for someone who would love to be genuinely at the heart of a thriving, successful organisation. The opportunity is available to be 'hands on' and learn about the business, including site visits and liaising with a variety of external clients, contractors and legal representatives.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within a busy, 'hands on' Business operations / Executive Assistant role
  • Excellent organisational and Office Management skills including implementing processes and procedures as required
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills including Powerpoint and advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to display high levels of confidentiality and discretion
  • A self-starter with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads

Fully office based in Malvern, with a salary of c £40k (depending on experience)
