Job description

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director on site, the Purchasing & Supply Manager will be responsible for supply chain policy, maintenance and service delivery, with the objective of providing the company with best practice procurement.

This role will also involve some professional direction to the VP based in the US and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Pro-actively manage all Procurement activities.
  • Liaison with Vendors and internal customers to ensure purchases fully match the company's needs.
  • Attend internal and external Supplier and Sub-contractor meetings to support procurement staff as required.
  • Represent the Procurement function both internally and externally on management issues.
  • Review evaluation of current and potential suppliers on an ongoing basis.
  • Review monthly analysis of Supplier performance, communicate and regularly meet with the suppliers to establish improvement activities.
  • Ensure that all Purchasing activities carry minimal risk whilst delivering maximum value to the Company.
  • Enhance the commercial advantage of the Company through developing new / incumbent suppliers, improving supplier performance, competitive analysis and negotiation of current agreements consistent with ethical practice.
  • Development, coach and mentor procurement personnel.
  • Provide commercial expertise from a procurement viewpoint for strategic negotiation with key technology partners and strategic suppliers.
  • Monitor and reduce stock levels.
  • Manage the Purchase to Pay procedure.
  • To continually review ways and means of improving departmental performance.
  • To own and achieve all departmental key measures through the management and development of subordinates.
  • To own the Purchasing and Supply chain budget and review on a regular basis with the Management team.


Requirements

  • Proven, hands on Management experience within a Purchasing and Supply Chain function.
  • Member Chartered Institute of Purchasing Supply or similar organisation desirable.
  • Staff Management experience and leadership skills.
  • Experience of Eastern European / Asian and low-cost country sourcing is highly desirable.
  • Highly numerate and literate.
  • Excellent PC skills.
  • Must have a sound understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Must have a high level of man-management skills.

Based Near Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

Monday to Friday, full time.

Basic salary £40k - £45k + £5k car allowance.
