Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary with opportunity to go permanent
Salary: £12.80 per hour - Rising to £13 p.h Once Perm

About the Role - Sewing Machinist - Manufacturing Operative
We are currently recruiting experienced Sewing Machinists to join our production team. Multiple positions are available for individuals with strong sewing skills and an eye for detail. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the manufacturing of high-quality textile products, with the potential to secure a permanent position based on performance.
What You'll Be Doing - Sewing Machinist - Manufacturing Operative
Fabric Preparation & Cutting
Inspect incoming fabrics for flaws or damage and report any irregularities
Accurately measure and cut materials to job specifications
Ensure cutting tools and workstations are safe and properly maintained
Sewing & Product Assembly
Operate sewing machines to stitch, assemble and finish textile products to required quality standards
Use correct threads, zippers, and fasteners for different product types
Check finished items for accuracy, neatness, and consistency
Label and store completed products in clean, organised conditions ready for dispatch
Workplace Maintenance & Team Support
Maintain a clean and safe work area to support efficient production
Report shortages of materials and consumables to the supervisor
Cooperate with team members and remain flexible to support various production tasks
Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
Previous experience as a sewing machinist, seamstress, or similar role
Confident in operating industrial sewing machines and following sewing patterns
Ability to carry out precise measurements and high-standard finishing work
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working with industrial-grade fabrics or materials
Understanding of different fabric properties and how to handle them
Familiarity with quality control standards in a manufacturing environment
Personal Qualities
High attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination
Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality work
Flexible attitude towards varied tasks and changing production needs
Positive team player with excellent communication skills
