Job description

Due to an internal promotion a new opportunity has been created for a Transport Planner for a busy stockholding and distribution depot based in Kidderminster.

As Transport Planner you will be working from the busy Production Office, reporting to the Transport Manager. You will be working very closely with both the sales and production teams and coordinating on a daily basis with hauliers.

It is essential that candidates have excellent planning and IT skills, strong communication skills and good UK geographical knowledge.

Transport Planner Responsibilities:

  • Create a cost-effective daily transport plan that achieves customer delivery requirements.
  • Liaise with Sales and Despatch teams to implement the transport plan.
  • Responsible for all pallet collections and return loads.
  • Responsible for all movement of externally processed material.
  • Maintain good levels of communication with colleagues and external contractors.
  • Liaise with Production and Works personnel to ensure that material is scheduled and processed to achieve loading requirements.
  • Communicate delivery timescales to Sales department/customers and ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Achieve cost, delivery and utilisation targets.
  • Undertake various admin duties (management of delivery notes, POD's, etc).

Transport Planner Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous Transport Planning experience essential.
  • Strong UK geographical knowledge.
  • Excellent numeracy/Literacy and IT skills including Microsoft applications.
  • Experience of managing drivers and / or transport agents via the phone.
  • Able to build good working relationships.

Based in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

Normal working hours will be 8.30 to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 to 3.15 Friday.
Candidate will be expected to work a 10am to 6pm shift every fourth week.

£20,000 - £25,000 annual salary dependant on experience.
