Fuelling business growth
Hewett uses recruitment expertise to fuel their own business growth…
One of the biggest challenges that business across the UK have faced in recent years is securing the talent that will support their future growth plans. This is not just limited to ensuring a company can continue to provide the services they already supply but also about identifying individuals who will lead an organisation through the next generation.
Hewett Recruitment provides help and support regarding these key issues to a wide client base across the local area and nationally. Since the establishment of the IT and Engineering divisions a decade ago, they have gradually developed to become key parts of the Hewett offering. Whilst there is no doubt that we have some uncertain times ahead – with the impact of any type of Brexit still to be understood and the Office for National Statistics recently announcing the first contraction in the UK economy since 2012 – the development of automation, robotics, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning also present a huge amount of opportunities. In order to meet the demands of clients and expand in to new areas, Hewett have begun its latest round of growth with the recruitment of 3 more members of the IT and Engineering teams, with more to follow.
The 3 new recruits will all be starting with the business in September. Alice has over 2 years IT recruitment experience and will be focusing on PHP Development in the West Midlands, whilst Luke, a newcomer to recruitment will be fast-tracked through Hewett’s in-house training plan, also within the IT sector, focusing on Infrastructure, Support and Testing in Gloucestershire and the South West. Rachel meanwhile joins with over 4 years’ experience resourcing roles within the Engineering sector across the UK and will be supporting the continued expansion of this division.
In seeking out these new team members, Hewett have used all the various tools available, from traditional advertising through to head-hunting via LinkedIn. As many organisations will know, this can sometimes appear to be the easy part – identifying individuals who also buy in to the ethos of the company can be a more tricky endeavour. In line with this, revisiting the vision and values of the business when putting together the new growth plans was a vital part of the process. This secures buy in from the existing team members whilst ensuring all future recruitment occurs in line with the company values. Furthermore, Industrial Temp and Commercial Temp and Permanent recruitment remain integral parts of the services provided by the Hewett team; specialist, long-serving Consultants in these sectors meaning we can continue to offer a full-service solution to our clients and candidates.
The final piece of the puzzle has to be ensuring that your people have everything they need to do their jobs to the best of their ability. Along with new recruits, there will be continued training and development of all staff members as well as identifying where the aforementioned automation and developments in technology can enhance the top-level service that Hewett already provides. New office space to accommodate the ambitious growth plans are also a top priority.
The net result? A business that is ready for the next phase of growth and the challenges that this can bring. Ben Mannion, Director, commented: “Next year sees Hewett Recruitment celebrate 40 years in business. The new growth plans are designed for Hewett to stay at the forefront of the rapidly changing recruitment landscape whilst not forgetting what our founder, Louise, built the business on and what made us great in the first place!”
