Job description
Controls Engineer
Cheltenham
Up to £55,000 - Dependant on experience.
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of their team, responsible for the programming, design, installation, commissioning, and service of their bespoke control systems and machinery. You will work both in-house and on customer sites across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally abroad. Your work will range from designing single control panels to creating intricate control systems as part of larger turnkey automation solutions. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality systems.
Controls Engineer Key Responsibilities:
* Program PLCs, Touch Screens, Network Systems, and SCADA systems
* Liaise with their internal panel builders to ensure systems are built to spec
* Install and commission systems on-site
* Troubleshoot, service, and fault-find on existing systems
* Project management from conception to completion
* Take ownership of customer projects and ensure customer satisfaction
* Mentor and train junior engineers in control systems
* Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards and on time
Controls Engineer Essential Skills & Experience:
* Experience in Industrial Control Systems
* Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley / Siemens)
* Knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNET, ProfiNET)
* Strong background in manufacturing industries and processes
* Experience liaising with customers and suppliers
Desirable Skills (Advantageous but not required):
* Experience working internationally
* Robotics programming experience
* EPLAN electrical design
* Knowledge of plastics processing machinery
* Familiarity with packaging systems
