We are working with a leading fresh produce business based in Ledbury that is looking for a Dispatch Operative to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient dispatch operations. If you're experienced in fast-paced environments and want to be part of a collaborative, high-performing team, this role is for you!
The Role:
You'll play a critical role in the daily dispatch of fresh produce, ensuring orders are prepared to exact specifications and on time. From preparing pallets and labels to loading lorries and maintaining dispatch safety, your attention to detail and efficiency will directly impact product quality and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations:
- Prepare trays, labels, boxes and load pallets as per team leader instructions
- Monitor tray and punnet supply, keeping ahead of production requirements
- Stack and label pallets safely and neatly for dispatch
- Liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure efficient loading
- Keep dispatch documentation and systems accurate and up to date
- Be ready on-site 10 minutes early to review the day's packing plan
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure proper PPE (hairnets, hi-vis, safety shoes) is worn at all times
- Complete daily forklift checks and report any equipment faults
- Keep the dispatch area clean and hazard-free
- Report accidents, hazards or near misses immediately
- Adhere to all food safety, hygiene and health & safety protocols
Operational Support:
- Safely load lorries in the correct order
- Identify and manage defective trays
- Support teamwork and communication across departments
Requirements:
- Experience in a dispatch/logistics/fast-paced production environment
- Forklift licence (essential)
- Experience within the food production or fresh produce industry is a plus
- Strong awareness of hygiene, health & safety regulations
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented and flexible with the ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
