A respected charity based in Herefordshire is seeking a Head of Finance to lead its financial strategy and operations. This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of a dynamic organisation working to inspire community action.
As part of the senior leadership team and reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Finance will drive financial performance, support long-term sustainability, and contribute to business development and organisational resilience.
The Role of Head of Finance:
Provide strategic financial leadership and business insight across the organisation and its commercial subsidiary
Manage financial operations, systems (Xledger), risk, compliance, and statutory responsibilities
Lead annual budgeting, reforecasting, audit, and financial reporting processes
Deliver high-quality financial support to key projects, programmes, and business development initiatives
Work closely with the CEO and Board to shape the organisation's financial future
Line manage the Finance Officer and support wider operations with robust financial systems and controls
Act as Company Secretary and lead the Finance Committee administration
Attend and contribute to Board and Finance Committee meetings (4/year each)
Head of Finance Requirements:
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
Strong experience in finance, governance, and compliance - advantagous, but not essential if you have prior charity finance experience
Proven track record in financial planning, risk management, and reporting
Skilled in project or contract finance with experience in charity law and environmental accounting desirable
Experience with cloud-based finance systems (e.g., Xledger preferred)
Excellent communicator with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences
Passionate about the environment and the mission of the organisation
