About the Role:

We are seeking a Product Engineer to join our client's New Product Development (NPD) team. This role is pivotal in ensuring new product integration and maintaining high standards throughout the product lifecycle. Their products serve diverse markets including building and construction, electronics, glazing, marine, industrial engineering, medical, transport, both nationally and internationally.

Product Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate New Product Integration: Oversee the integration process for new products, ensuring smooth transitions and successful launches.
  • Qualify New Enquiries: Evaluate new enquiries and direct them to Sales or NPD as appropriate.
  • Prepare Costings and Quotations: Develop detailed costings and quotations for sales managers and follow up as necessary.
  • Coordinate Approval of Drawings: Liaise with customers to facilitate and coordinate the approval of technical drawings.
  • Supplier Liaison: Communicate with materials and packaging suppliers regarding availability, specifications, MOQs, pricing, and lead times.
  • Sample and Development Requests: Issue Sample Works Orders and Development Request Sheets for die trials.
  • Calculate Material Requirements: Determine the material requirements for DVT/trial runs to support tooling and DVT plans.
  • Approval Samples and ISIR Documentation: Send out approval samples with ISIR documentation, ensuring ISIR is checked by the QE.
  • Create Packaging and QA Specifications: Develop comprehensive packaging and QA specifications based on CAD drawings and ensure they are signed off by QE before full release.
  • Support Group NPD Responsibilities: Assist with engineering change notifications and provide process support as needed.

Product Engineer Experience:

  • Proven experience in a product engineering or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of new product development processes.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing BOMs.
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance.
