Underwriter

The Role

To underwrite and manage Motor Extended Warranty, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (Motor EW/MBI) and associated insurance product solutions within the worldwide market.

Responsibilities

• Help the business achieve its objectives; sustainable growth and profitable business.
• Work on underwriting and pricing with all geographies of Business Partners (35 entities) and covering all Specialised Insurance EW/MBI business lines.
• Be a main point of contact within the Business Partners environment for the EW/MBI product.
• Participate in major national and international tenders related to the business and contribute in a very competitive environment to support and promote underwriting interests and conditions.
• Be focused on delivery and accuracy in all tasks undertaken and will be a contributor to the success of the underwriting team.
• Actively work on portfolio monitoring to control profitability.
• Play a major role in working collaboratively with business stakeholders & central teams.
• Be responsible for keeping yourself fully aligned on business processes and compliance, including ensuring you follow the processes.
• Be proactive in identifying & correcting areas of improvement.
• Be responsible for achieving results and targets and ensuring all programs remain within all agreed guidelines.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of: Motor & Warranty Industry, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance and associated products/ technical underwriting /manufacturer and banking markets.
• Additional knowledge on insurance contracts is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge on technical underwriting and actuarial practices including the ability to translate insurance business reality into projected figures and vice versa is essential.
• Knowledge of reinsurance within an international market is ideal.
• Ability to explain complex underwriting points at both a high level and technical level.
• You must be able to make clear informed decisions within a high pressured environment.
  

Salary dependant on experience.

Based in Coventry.

Monday to Friday Full Time Hours.
