HR & Payroll Advisor - Temporary Position - Enhanced DBS (Mandatory)
Location: Pershore
Hours: 30-37 hours per week
Salary: £ 16.17 an hour
Contract Type: Temporary
DBS Required: Enhanced
About the Role
Our client is seeking for an experienced HR & Payroll Advisor to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to provide essential HR transactional, advisory, and payroll support across multiple schools.
You'll work closely with school leaders, managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit, while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in collaboration with an external payroll provider.
Key Responsibilities
HR Advisory & Recruitment:
- Support end-to-end recruitment processes including drafting adverts, shortlisting, and contract management
- Ensure completion of all pre-employment checks (DBS, references, right-to-work)
- Provide front-line HR advice on policies, procedures, and employment legislation
- Manage low-level HR casework including absence management and employee relations
Payroll & Compliance:
- Process starters, leavers, contract changes, and expenses to meet payroll deadlines
- Calculate and administer statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
- Manage pension scheme administration and auto-enrolment compliance
- Resolve payroll queries and ensure accuracy of deductions
Administration:
- Maintain accurate personnel records on HR systems
- Support School Workforce Census submissions
- Produce HR management reports and data analysis
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and best practice
- Experience managing diverse HR casework
- Proficiency in HR/payroll software, Excel, and MIS systems
- High attention to detail with ability to meet strict deadlines
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 or above (or working towards)
- Understanding of teachers' and support staff terms & conditions
- Experience with restructure, redundancy, or TUPE processes
- Mental Health First Aid qualification
