Job description

Maintenance & Engineering Manager
Worcester
£Competitive Salary DOE + Excellent Benefits
Full Time Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm, Friday 8am to 3:30pm

Ready to step into a role where you can truly make your mark? This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a maintenance function in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment, shaping the future of the site while leading, developing and inspiring an engineering team.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on both strategic thinking and hands-on leadership. You'll be given the autonomy to build, transform and elevate the maintenance operation, driving performance improvements and embedding best-in-class engineering standards across the site. If you're motivated by improvement, innovation and delivering real results, this is the challenge for you.

The Opportunity

As Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead, motivate and develop a multi-skilled engineering team, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Take ownership of maintenance strategy - planning, shaping and delivering improvements to maximise equipment reliability and OEE.
  • Build and implement robust engineering processes, driving compliance, asset care and continuous improvement.
  • Analyse performance, identify gaps and align the site with best-practice global standards.
  • Oversee statutory inspections, ensure safe systems of work and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Manage engineering budgets, stock and purchasing activities, with an eye for both value and efficiency.
  • Support site-wide improvement teams and coach colleagues on the shop floor.
  • Play a key role in capital projects and utilities reduction initiatives.
  • Champion the use and development of digital systems (e.g., CMMS/SAP) to strengthen planned maintenance.

This is your chance to develop a maintenance function almost from a blank slate - no pre-packaged solutions, just the freedom and responsibility to design what "great" looks like.

About You

You'll bring:

  • A recognised engineering qualification (HNC/HND essential; degree desirable).
  • At least 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills.
  • Solid planning, analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Financial awareness and confidence managing budgets.
  • Experience with SAP/CMMS, Lean, Six Sigma or 5S (advantageous but not essential).

This role suits someone resilient, proactive and confident in challenging the status quo and someone who owns their work and thrives on continuous improvement.

What's in it for you?

  • £Competitive salary (DOE)
  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Option to purchase additional leave
  • Salary sacrifice car scheme & Cycle to Work
  • Gym discounts
  • 12x Life Assurance
  • Virtual GP & Best Doctors access
  • Private Medical Insurance & Critical Illness cover
  • Eye-care support
