Job description

The Role

Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will lead the stock administration and warehouse teams from the Distribution Centre in Worcester. You will ensure they deliver a flexible and professional service to all customers and stakeholders through world class housekeeping and health and safety procedures whilst providing operational excellence.

You should be an experienced and motivational leader, with a strong OEE background and experience in production, stock and administration functions. The role will require strategic thinking and the ability to translate data in tangible actions.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for a team of 5 direct reports and around 40 in-direct. Occasional travel within the UK will be required, as well as the flexibility to be in full attendance for any stock counts taking place out of hours or at weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all stock and administration activities within the Worcester site to ensure KPI's are met and responsiveness is at the required standards and timescales.
  • Liaise with IT team on projects to ensure they are fully tested and approved before implementation.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in process or system and manage the capture of these and where required the testing and implementation.
  • Ensure there is sufficiently trained resource in place at all times.
  • Conduct regular reviews with all staff with performance being measured against agreed responsibilities, behaviours and KPI's.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure that your team always comply with current H&S legislation and the Company H&S policy.
  • Promote a professional culture with regards to behaviour and standards within the Worcester operation.
  • Ensure all systems operate smoothly and align with quality standards.
  • Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures.
  • Establish production KPIs and conduct quality assessments.
  • Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise.
  • Build processes that meet our business objectives and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor financial data and recommend solutions that will improve profitability.
  • Coordinate with the HR department to ensure our hiring plans meet our business needs.

Requirements

  • Previous operational leadership experience in a stock, production and administration function essential.
  • Strong OEE background.
  • Strong continuous improvement mentality.
  • Very data driven.
  • Previous experience in process documentation creation highly desirable.
  • IT literate with experience in warehouse management systems with the ability to understand and develop their configuration and set up is essential.
  • Excellent people management skills including developing and motivating a team using regular review and communication.
  • Able to cope with change and to deliver results to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant H&S, HR legislation and good practice.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Based in Worcester.

Monday to Friday 37.5 Hours. Core hours 9am to 5pm with flexibility required.

Salary circa £48,000.
